Dr Russ Fox - Practical ways to collect and use student behavioural data

Teachers are required to record data on disruptive or challenging student behaviour within the classroom or yard. This often ends up looking like a long-form narrative record of “what happened” – either posted into the student management system or in a Google Doc. These records can be time-consuming to write and can provide limited impact when trying to understand and plan for a student’s behaviour. This session will be a practically focused webinar aimed at providing teachers with the knowledge and tools to engage in behavioural data collection that matches the needs of their students and context in the most practical ways possible.

Principals’ Forum - Beeliar Primary School - Louise O’Donovan and Sarah Gasmier

Open to all Principals and Assistant/Deputy Principals. The journey to become a school of excellence for Beeliar Primary School started with an in-depth analysis of student data, where all staff engaged in a disciplined dialogue about school and student performance. Whole school programs including Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), InitiaLit, Critical Reading and Spelling Mastery were introduced to ensure consistency of practice and a systematic development of reading across the school. The results have been outstanding and Beeliar PS achieved green boxes for all literacy areas in our 2021 Year 3 NAPLAN results.
