An evidence-based approach to the gap between knowing and doing

There is a gap between knowing information and being able to implement it effectively. This session addresses the assumptions that are implicit in all behaviour management strategies and relational approaches to education. Evidence from a range of sources will be explored to explore a paradigm shift that can benefit students, educators and create more functional and fun schools. 

When we learn about implementing effective pedagogy and having the behaviour management strategies to support those practises they are often decontextualised from the people who enact them. This session utilises evidence to support a model of education that understands who Australian teachers are, and how best to support them in service of providing the best possible education for Australian students.

Benji Gersh

Benji has worked in schools as a teacher and school leader. He has worked in the education sector as a trainer in trauma-informed practise all over Australia. Benji is also a registered Neurosequential Model In Education Trainer with Bruce Perry's ChildTrauma Academy. As a registered Australian Counselling Association counsellor, Benji prioritises the necessity of healthy mental wellbeing for successful work. He loves playing and working outdoors.
