Oral Language in the Classroom across K-12
Supporting Learning to Read & Reading to Learn
When we refer to language based learning difficulties do we mean Dyslexia, Developmental Language Disorder, language difficulties or receptive and expressive language? Are they the same or different? Can they co-exist with other disabilities?
What does a classroom teacher need to know to support all students and how does it change across their K-12 journey?
What role does oral language play in supporting student literacy & learning across the curriculum?
Does it matter beyond the first year of school?
What impact does oral language skills have on learning to read and reading comprehension?
Kathryn has worked in an Education Officer: Developmental Disabilities Role within Catholic education, piloted an Rehabilitation - Education Liaison Role for the Hunter New England Paediatric Brain Injury & Rehabilitation Teams and has more recently been involved in the curriculum reform process with NESA for K-2 & 3-6 English.
Kathryn understands first hand the demands placed on classroom teachers and strives to make the complex practical to support schools to support learners in the most effective, time and resource efficient manner possible.
